Westlake can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 65-14 win over Austin. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-7.
Grady Bartlett was a one-man wrecking crew for Westlake as he rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Rees Wise was another key contributor, throwing for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
Bowie fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Akins 56-7 at home. Given Bowie's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 357th, while Akins is ranked 941st), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Cruz Tello, who rushed for 53 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 114 yards and two touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Joe Delmark, who rushed for 102 yards on only five carries.
Their wins bumped Westlake to 8-0 and Bowie to 4-4.
