Tahoma is 9-1 against Mt. Rainier since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bears will host the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Tahoma will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Tahoma's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Kennedy Catholic 19-0. Considering the Bears have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Alexa Ramirez and Sienna Shultz made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Ramirez struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Shultz pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ramirez went 2-for-3 with one run and one double, while Shultz went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Kelsey Jones was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Mia Hammington was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Tahoma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .656. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Mt. Rainier couldn't beat Auburn Riverside on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Rams came up short against the Ravens, falling 18-5. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Ravens: they've now lost five in a row.
Mt. Rainier saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Young, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Mia Teplitsky also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Tahoma's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Mt. Rainier, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Mt. Rainier's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tahoma has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 14 hits per game. It's a different story for Mt. Rainier, though, as they've been averaging 12.3 hits. Given Tahoma's sizable advantage in that area, the Rams will need to find a way to close that gap.
Tahoma got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Mt. Rainier by a conclusive 21-2 score. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
