The Carroll Chargers will take on the Peru Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carroll is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Carroll barely beat Fort Wayne Northrop the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chargers were the clear victors by a 21-2 margin over the Bruins on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now won nine in a row.
Kyle Young looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Carroll got a massive performance out of Jaxon Sparks, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Sparks has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Irons, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Carroll kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Peru came into Monday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over Marion on Monday.
Bryce Hill was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That run marked the first that he has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Lucas Musser, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Carroll's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Peru, their record now sits at 2-3.
Peru's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Carroll hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. It's a different story for Peru, though, as they've only averaged .222. Will they be able to contain Carroll's hitters?
