The Cherryville Ironmen were the 64-55 winner over the Highland Tech Rams when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Cherryville fell 67-54 to Highland Tech on Friday. Cherryville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Highland Tech's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Sherrill, who scored 31 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sherrill has scored all season. Elijah Whitted was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Cherryville's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Highland Tech, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14.
Cherryville is on the road again on Wednesday and plays NCSSM: Morganton at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. As for Highland Tech, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bessemer City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bessemer City is coming into the match with six straight defeats on the road, meaning Highland Tech will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
