After a string of three wins, the Lyons Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 48-40 to Downers Grove North. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Lyons of the 36-35 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on January 16th.
Kaitlyn Parker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Downers Grove North, scoring 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Parker has scored all season. Abby Gross was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Lyons' loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Downers Grove North, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lyons will face off against the Dukes at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Downers Grove North, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st. The timing isn't great for Plainfield Central: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home, while the Trojans have snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
