After two games on the road, Hi-Plains is heading back home. They will take on The Prairie Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hi-Plains comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, Hi-Plains was beaten by Idalia 73-6. Hi-Plains was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 60-6.
Prairie can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They breezed by North Park at home to the tune of 49-14. The result was nothing new for Prairie, who have now won three contests by 35 points or more so far this season.
Prairie relied on the efforts of Justin Schreiner, who rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and Brennan Bringelson, who rushed for 135 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Bringelson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards.
Hi-Plains' defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.5 points per game. As for Prairie, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Hi-Plains took a serious blow against Prairie in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 75-15. Thankfully for Hi-Plains, Claytin Hove (who rushed for 285 yards and five touchdowns on only seven carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
