After four games on the road, Heritage is heading back home. They will take on the Rock Canyon Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Last Thursday, Heritage earned a 62-53 win over Douglas County. The victory was just what Heritage needed coming off of a 80-58 defeat in their prior matchup.
Logan Hause was a one-man wrecking crew for Heritage as he scored 22 points along with two steals. Brayden Chaney was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Rock Canyon's strategy against Castle View on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Rock Canyon blew Castle View out of the water with a 65-29 final score. Given Rock Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Castle View is ranked 51st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rock Canyon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hudson Ellwood, who scored 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ellwood has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kasen Lehman, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Heritage's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-12. As for Rock Canyon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Heritage took a serious blow against Rock Canyon in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 71-30. Thankfully for Heritage, Gavin Hershberger (who scored 22 points along with three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
