On Tuesday, Saint Francis Catholic lost to Oak Hall at home by a decisive 51-37 margin. Saint Francis Catholic has not had much luck with Oak Hall recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Brett Thomas, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jonah Powers, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you drain six more threes than your opponent, a fact Meadowbrook Academy proved on Friday. They snuck past Aucilla Christian with a 43-38 win.
Meadowbrook Academy found their leader in underclassman Gaige Daugherty, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Daugherty has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Orion Grayer, who scored two points along with seven blocks and six rebounds.
Saint Francis Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Meadowbrook Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Thursday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Saint Francis Catholic have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 39.9% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Meadowbrook Academy, though, as they've only nailed 34% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
