If the Highline Pirates were feeling good off their 67-18 takedown of the Tyee Titans last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Highline took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Renton on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Highline can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while Renton is ranked 70th).
Highline's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marquawn Mccraney, who scored 18 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Corey Crosby, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Highline's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Renton, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highline won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Franklin Pierce at 7:15 p.m. on December 20th. Hopefully Franklin Pierce focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday. Renton will be home for the holidays to greet Rancho at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
