The South Eugene Axe had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They secured a 68-64 W over Central. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
South Eugene can attribute much of their success to Trey Saunders, who scored 26 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Yoder, who scored 17 points.
South Eugene's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
South Eugene will head out on the road to face off against Sunset at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Canby at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Canby focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
