Stratford has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Wando Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but Stratford had to settle for a 16-14 defeat against Cane Bay. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Stratford in their matchups with Cane Bay: they've now lost nine in a row.
Meanwhile, Wando's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Berkeley 52-10. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for 11 points.
Despite the defeat, Wando got a solid performance out of Carter Adams, who picked up 145 receiving yards and a touchdown. Adams' longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards.
Stratford's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely James Island, Lexington, and Carolina Forest. As for Wando, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-6.
Stratford didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Wando in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, but they still walked away with a 20-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stratford since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
