Softball Recap: Lakeside School Gets the Win

Lakeside School won the last time they faced Coosa Valley Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Lakeside School Chiefs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Coosa Valley Academy Rebels, sneaking past 17-15. That's two games straight that the Chiefs have won by exactly two runs.

Addison Phillips spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and ten unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Addy Helms was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Katherine Mitchell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Lakeside School and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Coosa Valley Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Lakeside School will have a chance to go back-to-back against Coosa Valley Academy: the pair will be back at it again later today.
