The Union Grove Christian Patriots are on the road again on Monday and plays the Tabernacle Christian Conquerors at 6:45 p.m. on February 5th. Hopefully Union Grove Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Union Grove Christian was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to the Eagles. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Union Grove Christian came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Eagles are ranked 531st).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Colin Wykes, who scored 20 points along with two steals. Hayden Michalak was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 90-45, which was the final score in Tabernacle Christian's tilt against the Blues on Monday.
Union Grove Christian's record is now 23-6. Tabernacle Christian's record now sits at 10-9.
Union Grove Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over the Conquerors when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 59-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Union Grove Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
