The Rise Academy Guardians's three-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They came out on top against Banner Christian by a score of 76-65. The victory was just what Rise Academy needed coming off of a 79-57 loss in their prior game.
Rise Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was JoJo Henry out in front who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Henry scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Wooldrige, who scored 14 points.
Rise Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Banner Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rise Academy and Veritas School will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Banner Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Brunswick Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Brunswick Academy is ranked 226th, while Banner Christian is ranked 204th).
