Basketball Game Preview: Rock Hills Grizzlies vs. Lakeside Knights

Rock Hills is 2-8 against Lakeside since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Rock Hills Grizzlies will be taking part in a tournament against the Lakeside Knights at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Rock Hills saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They walked away with a 50-37 win over Thunder Ridge. The Grizzlies pushed the score to 43-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Longhorns cut but never quite recovered from.

Cooper McDill had an outrageously good game as he went 8 of 14 on his way to 16 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Whelchel, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 10 points.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Lakeside's strategy against Stockton on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lakeside blew Stockton out of the water with a 53-23 final score. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Lakeside had a senior duo take command as Reece Remus dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds and Jace Cunningham went 8 of 13 on his way to 19 points. Remus has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden McCoy, who posted four points and three steals.

Lakeside's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Rock Hills, their win bumped their record up to an identical 2-0.

Rock Hills skirted past Lakeside 46-44 in their previous meeting back in February. Will Rock Hills repeat their success, or does Lakeside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
