After a string of six wins, the Fordham Prep Rams's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. John the Baptist. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fordham Prep has scored all season.
Several Rams players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Jackson, who scored 21 points along with three steals. The contest was Jackson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Matthew Kapfer, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Fordham Prep's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for St. John the Baptist, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0.
Fordham Prep will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against St. John's Prep at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. St. John's Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 488th, while Fordham Prep is ranked 94th). St. John the Baptist won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute on December 29th. Hopefully St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday.
