Sargent has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Mancos Bluejays at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sargent knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Mancos likes a good challenge.
Sargent posted their biggest win yet this season on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Trinidad 56-22 at home. Given Sargent's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Trinidad is ranked 333rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Lucas Garcia, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Fernando Venzor, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Mancos' good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 58-47 to Sanford. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mancos has scored all season.
Sargent pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Mancos, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2.
Sargent was taken down by Mancos 61-33 in their previous matchup back in January of 2020. Can Sargent avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
