Berlin is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Windsor is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Berlin Redcoats will take on the Windsor Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, everything went Berlin's way against Newington as Berlin made off with a 38-16 victory. Given Berlin's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Newington is ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Berlin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jon jon Morales out in front who rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Toby Lavender, who rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, even though Manchester scored an imposing 34 points on Friday, Windsor still came out on top. Windsor was the clear victor by a 55-34 margin over Manchester.
Windsor's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maxim Copeland, who picked up 241 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Copeland's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. Another player making a difference was Aj Robinson, who threw for 355 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt.
Their wins bumped Berlin to 6-2 and Windsor to 7-1.
Berlin was dealt a bruising 40-11 defeat at the hands of Windsor in their previous meeting back in November of 2021. Thankfully for Berlin, Elijah Cromartie (who threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 14.3 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
