After flying high against the Weskan Coyotes last Tuesday, the Bethune Bobcats came back down to earth. The match between Bethune and Flagler wasn't particularly close, with Bethune falling 50-35. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Bethune of the 58-27 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Bethune had strong showings from Samantha Robinson, who scored ten points along with four blocks and three steals, and Madilyn Powell, who scored ten points along with four blocks and two steals. Robinson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Leading Flagler to victory were Lexi Witt and Sydnie Berry. Witt almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine steals, while Berry scored 13 points along with six steals and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Berry has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylie Stone, who scored six points along with three steals.
Bethune has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Flagler, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
Bethune and Wiley will face off at 2:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bethune is facing Wiley at the right time seeing as Wiley is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Flagler, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lone Star at 4:00 p.m. on February 10th. Flagler is coming into the game with four straight victories on the road, so Lone Star is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
