The Ridge Community Bolts will head out on the road to challenge the Celebration Storm at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Ridge Community's win against Discovery wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Ridge Community sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Discovery on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bolts have posted since April 23, 2024.
Edger Olmeda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Deniel Serrano was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Omir Santos also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Celebration ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Poinciana 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Celebration also let their pitcher toss all eight innings and he was also dialed-in: Jesus Cabarcas gave up just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Keiner Quintero, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Alejandro Moreno was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
Celebration was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Celebration has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. Ridge Community now has a winning record of 5-4.
