Basketball Recap: Prout Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Prout had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They came out on top against the Mt. Hope Huskies by a score of 62-50. This was payback for the Crusaders, who suffered a 59-39 loss the last time these two teams met.

Prout had a senior duo take command as Lawson O'Hearn dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds and Charlie Horne went 7 for 15 en route to 22 points. Horne's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Ryan Antonucci was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points.

Prout smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Mt. Hope still got an impressive performance from John Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 boards. Another player making a difference was Lucas Andreozzi, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

Prout is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Mt. Hope, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Prout will host St. Patrick Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Prout knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully St. Patrick Academy likes a good challenge. As for Mt. Hope, they will take on Woonsocket at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Hope is facing Woonsocket at the right time seeing as Woonsocket is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
