Santa Fe has gone a perfect 5-0 against Port Neches-Groves recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Santa Fe will host Port Neches-Groves at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Port Neches-Groves will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Santa Fe extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Indians put the hurt on Iowa Colony with a sharp 13-3 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Carlie Hrncir was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Hrncir was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Katelynn Torres was a standout: she fired off two home runs and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madelyne Baulis, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Santa Fe lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Port Neches-Groves, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Beaumont United on Tuesday by a score of 11-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Indians haven't had any issues with the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Addy Brent and Kiana Ledoux did most of the damage at the plate: Brent got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Ledoux went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jardin Cunningham, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI.
Santa Fe pushed their record up to 16-12 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Port Neches-Groves, their victory bumped their record up to 25-4.
Santa Fe came out on top in a nail-biter against Port Neches-Groves in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, sneaking past 5-3. Does Santa Fe have another victory up their sleeve, or will Port Neches-Groves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
