On Friday, The Newman Greenies got themselves on the board against the Metairie Park Country Day Cajuns, but the Metairie Park Country Day Cajuns never followed suit. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 35-0 win over the Cajuns. The result was nothing new for Newman, who have now won three matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Leading Newman to victory were Will Loerzel and Eli Friend. Loerzel rushed for 29 yards and two touchdowns, while Friend rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown. Jack Nesser got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Newman's victory was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.8 points per game. As for Metairie Park Country Day, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newman will take on King Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. King Charter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Newman is ranked 20th). As for Metairie Park Country Day, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against St. Charles Catholic at 7:00 p.m. St. Charles Catholic is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
