The Williams Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Seventy-First Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Williams comes in on six and Seventy-First on 11.
Williams had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on Hunt with a sharp 44-22 win on Friday. Considering Williams has won four matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Haneef Rasheed II continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 153 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also picking up 67 receiving yards. Amarion Richmond also helped out as he racked up 110 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Seventy-First put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They really took it to Triton for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-7 win at home. Given Seventy-First's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Triton is ranked 152nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Seventy-First's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Deandre Nance, who rushed for 73 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 123 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. Jayson Franklin was in the mix as well, providing Seventy-First with two touchdowns.
Williams pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.0 points per game. As for Seventy-First, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.
Williams and Seventy-First were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in November of 2021, but Williams came up empty-handed after a 29-28 loss. Can Williams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
