Lake Central has won ten straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Crown Point has won ten straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. While Lake Central's win against Portage wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Lake Central sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Portage on Wednesday.

Luke O'Keefe tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Keegan O'Bryan, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Figg, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Crown Point beat Homewood-Flossmoor 8-4 on Saturday.
Crown Point also got a great performance from Collin Bodnar as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Billy Chidsey was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Sean Dunlap was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Lake Central's win bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Crown Point, their victory bumped their record up to 19-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lake Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Crown Point struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
