The Basha Bears are headed away from home for the first time to take on the Xavier College Prep Gators at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Basha put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Highland as they made off with a 15-4 victory. With that win, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Samantha Garrett looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Makaila Quinney was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Aniyah Jaiman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Basha always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Xavier College Prep put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Kofa 20-1.
Makenzie Latvaaho and Sydney Root made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Latvaaho tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Root tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Latvaaho went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Root went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three hits gave Latvaaho a new career-high.
In other batting news, Xavier College Prep let Shya Pethtel and Liz Matuz run wild. Pethtel went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Matuz went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Joie Ramos, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBI.
Xavier College Prep's record is now 3-0. As for Basha, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.
