The Sinton Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Ingleside Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sinton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Sinton is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since February 19th on Friday. They lost 10-4 to Calhoun. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Sandcrabs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Sinton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Tijerina, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Another was Tiana Salone, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Rockport-Fulton typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Ingleside proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Pirates. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Kylee Ward made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dara Davila, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Leilani Smith also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.
Ingleside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Sinton's defeat dropped their record down to 14-14. As for Ingleside, their record now sits at 17-10-1.
Sinton came up short against Ingleside when the teams last played on March 3rd, falling 5-2. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
