Basketball Recap: Bridgeton Piles Up the Points Against Cape May County Tech

Bridgeton won the last time they faced Cape May County Tech and things went their way on Saturday too. The Bridgeton Bulldogs took their matchup with ease, bagging a 68-19 win over the Cape May County Tech Hawks. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 25 points or more this season.

Bridgeton was led to victory by Jameell Purnell and Kyion Gray. Purnell shot 4-for-6 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine boards, while Gray went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Purnell has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 20 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Geraldo Gonzalez, who posted six points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Bridgeton was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Bridgeton and bumps their season record up to 6-4. As for Cape May County Tech, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Bridgeton will look to defend their home court on Monday against Egg Harbor Township at 7:00 p.m. As for Cape May County Tech, they will head out to square off against Absegami at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
