Softball Recap: Manteca Wins Going Away Against Sierra

While Manteca put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Sierra. The Manteca Buffaloes put the hurt on the Sierra Timberwolves with a sharp 12-0 win. Considering the Buffaloes have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Graciela Torres was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa San Nicolas, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Manteca always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sierra only posted an OBP of .125.

The victory made it two in a row for Manteca and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Sierra, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manteca will take on Sheldon at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Sheldon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Sierra, they will face off against Mountain House at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sierra has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
