Flag Football Recap: Alli Dreessen Leads Air Academy's Defense on Thursday

Air Academy got themselves on the board against Ponderosa on Thursday, but Ponderosa never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 26-0 margin over the Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Kadets, who have now won four matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.

Paige Murdoch went supernova, picking up 116 receiving yards and two scores. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 60 yards.

Air Academy didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Ponderosa to a completion percentage of just 34.8%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Cameron Paget and Tess Heater, who each logged one passes deflected. Air Academy wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 56.5%.

Air Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Alli Dreessen.

Air Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.0 points on average over those games. As for Ponderosa, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Air Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ponderosa, they will square off against Chaparral at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wolverines' defense has only allowed 9.2 points per game this season, so the Mustangs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
