Nation's No. 1 team Duncanville throttles McKinney in state title contest Saturday night.

One night after trailing by 20 points and seeing national title hopes flash before its eyes, No. 1 Duncanville left no doubt Saturday with a 69-49 triumph over McKinney to capture the program's third consecutive Texas Class 6A state title game at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Duncanville (35-1) started hot from the field, connecting on 19 of 30 field goals and 5 of 10 3-pointers to jump out to a 46-21 halftime lead. McKinney was just 1 of 9 from 3-point range with 10 turnovers in the first 16 minutes.

Five-star senior Anthony Black led the way with 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Davion Sykes chipped in 13 points and five rebounds.

McKinney, making its first state title game appearance, received a game-high 23 points and six rebounds from four-star junior Ja'Kobe Walter.

No. 20 Beaumont United (Beaumont) capped off back-to-back state championship runs with a 62-57 victory over Mansfield Timberview (Arlington) in the Class 5A title game.

Last year's state championship game hero came back to shine again as Houston signee Terrance Arceneaux scored 10 points in the final two minutes to secure the win for Beaumont United. Arceneaux hit the game-tying and game-winning shot in last year's state title game.

Earlier in the day, Lamarcus Penigar put on a show in the Class 2A title game by going off for 41 points in a 65-51 win for Clarendon over Lipan. Graford captured the 1A title with a 42-39 victory over Texline, Madison (Dallas) took down Cole (San Antonio) for the Class 3A state crown and Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy (Dallas) routed Hirschi (Wichita Falls) for the Class 4A championship.

In their state semifinal contest Thursday night, the Timberwolves escaped with a 66-64 victory over Kimball (Dallas) in a rematch of last year's state title game. The defending state champions trailed 60-52 with three minutes remaining before finishing the game on a 14-4 run.

In one of the most incredible turnarounds you will ever see, top-ranked Duncanville came from behind 30-10 to defeat Atascocita 50-36 in the Texas Class 6A state semifinals. The Panthers held Atascocita to just four second half points and finished the game on a 40-6 run over the final 20 plus minutes of game action.

Using in-your-face defense and constant subbing, Duncanville was able to keep fresh bodies on its opponents and smother them into turnovers and tough shots down the stretch. The Panthers shot 7 of 7 from the field in the fourth quarter and scored the final 14 points of the contest.

The first Class 6A semifinal contest was one for the ages as McKinney outlasted Westlake (Austin) 68-66 in double overtime after SMU signee Alex Anamekwe stole the ball and dunked it for the win as time expired. Four-star junior Ja'kobe Walter had a game-high 23 points to go along with eight rebounds to help snap the Chapparals' 37-game winning streak.
