Berea-Midpark and Avon Lake are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Berea-Midpark Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Avon Lake Shoremen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Berea-Midpark has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 227 points over their last three contests.
Last Friday, Berea-Midpark was fully in charge, breezing past Kenston 80-38 at home. Given Berea-Midpark's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Kenston is ranked 391st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Austin Clay, who scored 12 points along with 9 rebounds and 8 steals. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points. Tyson Clay was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Avon Lake pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 75-64 to Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin. Avon Lake has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Berea-Midpark's win pushed their record up to 3-0, while Kenston's loss dropped theirs down to 0-3.
Berea-Midpark couldn't quite finish off Avon Lake in their previous matchup back in January and fell 60-57. Can Berea-Midpark avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
