Noxubee County (Macon, Miss.) snapped the 6-game winning streak of
Greene County (Leakesville, Miss.), with a 16-6 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Fernando Phillips touchdown run in the first quarter, the Tigers led 8-0 at the half.
Noxubee County saw its 8-point halftime lead fall to two entering the fourth.
With the win NC extended its winning streak to 16 games. The Macon school defeated the Wildcats 41-21 last week.
Lamarcus Franks played well for the Wildcats. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to 24 on the year.
Darrell Robinson was the top performer for the Tigers. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 50 touchdowns on the season.
Greene County's lone touchdown came on a 5-yard run by Franks in the third quarter.
Noxubee County went into the matchup giving up only 7.7 points per game. GC's six points were well below its season average of 36.0 per game.
The loss comes after Greene County defeated Quitman 24-21 last week.
