The Trinity Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Brookside Cardinals at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Brookside took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Trinity, who comes in off a win.
Trinity barely beat Brooklyn the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Hurricanes on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their six-match losing streak.
Trinity's got stronger as the match went on, holding Brooklyn to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-15, 25-13.
Meanwhile, Brookside came up short against Columbia on Thursday and fell 3-1. The Cardinals have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
While Brookside had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-20, 23-25, 25-23.
Trinity will need to focus on slowing down Sydney Adkins, one of several Brookside players who made an impact when they last played. She had 27 assists. Adkins is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 21 or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Trinity's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Brookside, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Trinity was able to grind out a solid victory over Brookside when the teams last played back in August of 2016, winning 3-1. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
