Haylee Dowlen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Dowlen was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and one triple. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Gracie Weakley and Sydney Crouch did most of the damage at the plate: Weakley scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Crouch went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Crouch has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Dolinich, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Harpeth lost 10-4 to East Hickman County on Tuesday.
Taylor Riley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Cameron Hayes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hannah Stanley, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Harpeth's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cheatham County Central, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Cheatham County Central took their victory against Harpeth when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-4. Will Cheatham County Central repeat their success, or does Harpeth have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
