There's no place like home for the Gayville-Volin Raiders, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 44-35 win over Tripp-Delmont/Armour on Tuesday. This was payback for Gayville-Volin, who suffered a 40-31 loss the last time these two teams met.
Gayville-Volin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylor Hoxeng out in front who scored 21 points along with three steals. Hoxeng continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maia Achen, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Gayville-Volin's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Tripp-Delmont/Armour, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gayville-Volin and the Seahawks will face off on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28. As for Tripp-Delmont/Armour, they will head out on the road to face off against the Braves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Dakota (Marty Indian is ranked 91st, while the Nighthawks are ranked 67th).
