Western Guilford is 0-6 against Northern Guilford since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Western Guilford Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Northern Guilford Nighthawks at 6:15 p.m. Western Guilford has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Grimsley scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, Western Guilford still came out on top. Western Guilford managed a 65-61 win over Grimsley. The win was just what Western Guilford needed coming off of a 84-55 defeat in their prior contest.
Western Guilford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leila Henderson, who scored 19 points along with six assists and two steals. Henderson hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Star Hughes, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, Northern Guilford gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They really took it to Southwest Guilford for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-18 victory at home. The victory was nothing new for Northern Guilford as they're now sitting on 11 straight.
Western Guilford's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Northern Guilford, they pushed their record up to 20-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Western Guilford was dealt a bruising 80-25 defeat at the hands of Northern Guilford in their previous matchup back in January. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Western Guilford was down 45-11.
