After ten games on the road, Austin Achieve is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Giddings Buffaloes at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Austin Achieve comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last 11 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Tuesday, Austin Achieve was beaten by Taylor 76-12. While losing is never fun, Austin Achieve can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1389th, while Taylor is ranked 441st).
Meanwhile, Giddings ended up a good deal behind Jarrell on Friday and lost 61-45. Giddings has not had much luck with Jarrell recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Austin Achieve's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.0 points per game. As for Giddings, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Austin Achieve was dealt a bruising 40-12 loss at the hands of Giddings when the teams last played back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Austin Achieve was down 26-0.
