Basketball Recap: Appling Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Appling Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 28-27 heartbreaker at the hands of the Crossroads Christian Academy Crusaders. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bella Gray, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 18 boards. Gray has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Ayanna Hubbard was another key player, putting up four points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Appling Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Appling Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Crossroads Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Appling Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 36-23 loss against Peoples Baptist Academy on the 13th. As for Crossroads Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 39-19 defeat against Southside Christian on the 17th.
