The Westfield Mustangs extended their postseason success on Saturday against the Rockwall Yellowjackets. They blew past the Yellowjackets 77-48 at home. The victory was nothing new for Westfield as they're now sitting on ten straight.
Leading Westfield to victory were Taji Atkins and Miles Dent. Atkins rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, while Dent rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Atkins is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Abram, who picked up 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Rockwall still got an impressive performance from Ashten Emory, who rushed for 255 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Emory was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards. Triston Gooch was another key contributor, picking up 113 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Westfield's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Rockwall, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.
Westfield will square off against Duncanville at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Duncanville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Rockwall does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
