Carson Perry and Liam Yoder did most of the damage at the plate: Perry went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Yoder got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave Perry a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Haflich, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Limon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Lyons was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Dawson School, falling 12-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lions have suffered against the Mustangs since May 13, 2017.
Lyons saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Henry Lynch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Lyons' defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Limon, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Limon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lyons struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Limon beat Lyons 8-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Badgers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
