Basketball Game Preview: Wheeler County Bulldogs vs. Montgomery County Eagles

The Wheeler County Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Montgomery County Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wheeler County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season.

Wheeler County is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since February 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hawkinsville, sneaking past 52-50.

Wheeler County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quenshawn Glasper, who posted 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Glasper is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Michael Wright Jr. was another key player, putting up ten points along with eight boards and five assists.

Wheeler County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Montgomery County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were dealt a 72-37 defeat at the hands of Toombs County. The Eagles were down 63-31 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Wheeler County's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8. As for Montgomery County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-18.

Wheeler County strolled past Montgomery County in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 66-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wheeler County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
