Basalt won the last time they faced Battle Mountain, and things went their way on Friday, too. Basalt steamrollered Battle Mountain 47-6. The success made it back-to-back wins for Basalt.
Basalt's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 20 points in the first half. Battle Mountain came up with 6 to make it 20-6 heading into the break. The Basalt defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the matchup.
No one put up better numbers for Basalt than senior Trevor Reuss, who brought his A game into the match. He passed for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns. Sophomore Alain Mellin was in the mix, too, providing Basalt with 3 touchdowns. The win bumped their record up to 2-0. The defeat dropped Battle Mountain's record to 2-1.
Next week Basalt take on Pagosa Springs at 7:00 PM. Battle Mountain will stay at home against Moffat County at 7:00 PM.
