The Ripley Tigers suffered their biggest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 69-36 defeat at the hands of Itawamba Agricultural. While losing is never fun, Ripley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Itawamba Agricultural is ranked 46th).
Ripley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Taylor Spight, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alorian Story, who scored nine points.
Ripley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Itawamba Agricultural, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ripley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Shannon at 10:00 a.m. on January 27th. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece. As for Itawamba Agricultural, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Amory at 6:00 p.m.
