After a string of four wins, the Woodstown Wolverines's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 64-54 to Penns Grove. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Woodstown came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Penns Grove is ranked 332nd).
It was another big night for Giomar Conrad, who scored 23 points along with seven steals and five rebounds for Penns Grove. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Conrad has scored at least 25% of Penns Grove's points. Ka'Ron Ceaser was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Woodstown's defeat dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Penns Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodstown won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Delsea at 5:30 p.m. on January 5th. Delsea will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Penns Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Overbrook at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
