5A Region 4 recap Sept. 26, 2012
MICHAEL ANDERSON and SKYLER MUNSON provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Lehi. The connection was good for 82 yards, the longest such play in 5A Region 4 this season.
Pleasant Grove was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Pioneers 46-11. The Vikings came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Pleasant Grove's dynamic duo of ANDERSON and MUNSON proved tough for Lehi to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. ANDERSON threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns and MUNSON had 210 yards receiving. DALLIN HATCH helped Pleasant Grove's passing attack out by catching one ball for 54 yards.
Brad Hill made the biggest impact on defense this week as American Fork fell to Lone Peak. The 5-foot-9 senior pulled down one interception.
Lopini Katoa was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 89 yards on 18 carries as the Cavemen beat David Hastings's team. Blake Harmon also contributed to the rushing game with 26 yards on the ground.
The Vikings' ANDERSON and MUNSON have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. ANDERSON has thrown for 1287 yards this season, while MUNSON, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 24 catches for 631 yards. Ryan Absher from the Pioneers leads the league in rushing with 501 yards.
The marquee game in 5A Region 4 this week will be the clash between the Knights and Bingham. Lone Peak comes into the matchup ranked 16th in the state, while the Miners ranks fifth.
Bingham extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Riverton, 42-16. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
