After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hawthorne, the Chiefland Indians were happy to have found some success on Friday. They managed a 40-34 win over Taylor County. This was payback for Chiefland, who suffered a 34-30 loss the last time these two teams met.
Chiefland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brianna Bell led the charge by scoring 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Bell is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyasia Bivins, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Taylor County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was LeeAsia Johnson, who scored 16 points. That was a full 47.1% of Taylor County's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kourtney Jackson, who scored nine points.
Chiefland is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-12 record this season. As for Taylor County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
Chiefland will take on the Bears at TBD on Monday. Dixie County is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Taylor County, they will square off against the Buccaneers at TBD on Monday.
