Basketball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Jasper's Winning Streak

It was a proper cat-fight when Jasper faced off against Evansville Reitz on Friday. The Jasper Wildcats took a 35-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evansville Reitz Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Panthers are ranked 33rd).

It was another big night for Bailey Hape, who posted 15 points and seven boards for Evansville Reitz. The game was Hape's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Summer Johnson, who had six points and five rebounds.

With the defeat, Jasper broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-6. As for Evansville Reitz, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Jasper wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-42 victory against Wood Memorial on the 28th. As for Evansville Reitz, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-53 win against Danville on the 28th.
