Northeast is 0-3 against East Iberville since December of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Northeast Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the East Iberville Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
Northeast can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game. They came out on top against East Feliciana by a score of 43-33. The victory was just what Northeast needed coming off of a 57-24 defeat in their prior contest.
Among those leading the charge was Tyvia Davis, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Northeast's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniyah Brown, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, East Iberville can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by West St. John at home to the tune of 74-7. Given East Iberville's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while West St. John is ranked 335th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northeast's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11. As for East Iberville, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Northeast couldn't quite finish off East Iberville when the teams last played back in January of 2023 and fell 45-42. Can Northeast avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
