The S & S Consolidated Rams will be home for the holidays to greet the Sanger Indians at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Tuesday, S & S Consolidated came up short against Tom Bean and fell 66-58.
Despite their loss, S & S Consolidated saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ricardo Marquez, who scored 19 points, was perhaps the best of all. Joe Orr was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five steals.
Even though they lost, S & S Consolidated were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Sanger strolled past Bridgeport with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 61-47. Given Sanger's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while Bridgeport is ranked 1113th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
S & S Consolidated's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-10. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Sanger, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-3.
S & S Consolidated didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Sanger in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, but they still walked away with a 58-54 victory. Does S & S Consolidated have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sanger turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
